Insomniac now has the capability to run off any proxy settings that you have available on your computer. It essentially inherits the global settings of your local system, so you can run it through any proxy service you currently have running on your machine as well as any proxy configuration scripts you have installed on your machine.

This feature is still in beta, but here is how it works.

  1. Click the new Network icon in the top right tool bar that has two computer monitors on it.
  2. Click on LAN settings.
  3. Select to ‘automatically’ configure settings if you are using a proxy that inserts these settings into your system settings.
  4. Alternately, you can select to manually enter an IP address and port under the ‘manual’ configuration option if you don’t plan on using settings that change frequently. If you choose this option, be sure to click the ‘advanced’ button and make sure the settings are entered in both the HTTP option and the ‘secure’ or ‘https’ option.
  5. Advanced: if you have a custom script to manage your proxies, choose the option to upload your script from your hard drive.

Troubleshooting

If you try setting up a proxy and it does not work and you just want to go back to normal settings for running the browser of your local IP address, select the option to automatically detect settings. If you still have trouble connecting, turn your proxy solution off. If it still does not work, close the browser and restart. If that does not do it, shut down and restart and try again.

After you have taken these steps, please contact us and be as detailed and specific about what you did and what is happening as possible so we can properly assess the situation.
